Gain the specific knowledge and practical skills needed to work successfully as a copy-editor in your communications role, the publishing industry, in-house, or simply if you need to produce high-end content.
Through a series of practical exercises, you will learn to approach the printed word more analytically and critically, allowing you to spot errors quickly and have the confidence to rewrite the everyday text into concise, precise and compelling editorial copy at high speed.
The course will cover the basics of copy editing, including the difference between proofreading and editing. Learn the flow of a copy editor from start to end whilst focusing on important aspects of the role such as grammar, spelling and common mistakes in punctuation.
The course covers how to work to a house style, essential typography and working with figures. Gain a full understanding of how to write compelling copy, interesting headlines and produce content that works.
The course is suitable for proofreaders looking to enhance their freelancing opportunities, those within publishing houses, working in communications, content producers, or those who have done some editing work but lack formal training.
