Editing & Proofreading Courses

LSP offers the following  Publishing courses:

The courses offered by LSP are practical in nature, and provide an overview of a particular publishing function so that course delegates can make informed career choices. The training aims to thoroughly prepare delegates for their roles as publishing professionals, whether as full-time staff or as freelancers - in functions such as traditional editing and proofreading, sub-editing and picture researching, feature, corporate & press release writing; as well as skills in electronic publishing in areas such as QuarkXPress, InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop.

Since our inception in 1984, the courses have attracted thousands of participants, some of whom are sent by their employers for training - please refer to the client list. A large number of delegates, however, approach us independently of employer sponsorship, in order to gain new or additional skills and usually to enter or to develop their career in publishing.

Courses are run three times a year, in October, February and May. The evening courses run one evening a week from 6.30pm - 8.30pm. Others, such as Copy-Editing; Picture Research; and Business & Press Release Writing; run as a one or two day course.

The electronic publishing courses (QuarkXPress, Adobe InDesign, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator, HTML, Dreamweaver, Adobe Flash, & Writing for the Web) are run during the day for a duration of one, two or three days.

LSP course delegates can apply for the National Union of Journalists (NUJ) membership and Press Pass (it is recommended that applications are made during the course and approval is at the discretion of the NUJ): http://www.nujtraining.org.uk/studentreg.html
